HYDROVISION International track chair profile: Amanda Smith

Each year’s HYDROVISION International conference content is chosen by a committee of global hydropower and dams industry experts, led by five knowledgeable track chairs.

This approach to the conference sessions presented ensures all the educational offerings at HYDROVISION International cover the hot topics and trends. All told on the conference planning committee, 45 experts from across the industry work closely with Clarion Energy to bring the most important topics and latest ideas to the event every year. Committee members represent about 15 countries.

HYDROVISION International 2024 features five conference tracks, including the Equipment and Technology sessions in the knowledge hub. There truly is something for everyone in the content presented at HYDROVISION International.

The track chair for Operations and Maintenance is Amanda Smith.

Smith has been with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 27 years and is serving as the operating project manager for Albeni Falls Dam in Idaho for Seattle District Operations Division. In this position, she supervises a group of technical professionals that oversee the safety, environmental, contracting and engineering programs at Little Goose in Washington.

She began her career in 1996 as a GS-01 student aide at the North Alabama Area Office, Redstone Arsenal AL, Mobile District in the Construction Division. Since that time, Smith has worked in four different divisions for five different district offices. She has supported these districts by serving as the lead mechanical engineer on a diverse set of MILCON, MEDCOM and civil construction projects while in the Mobile District, as a project engineer supporting the Iraq Mission working to support the restoration of the electrical grid with the TransAtlantic District, and as a project and program manager for the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program in Jacksonville.
