Jobs and People Choose from four training workshops at HYDROVISION International 2024 Elizabeth Ingram 4.15.2024 Share Four focused training workshops will take place at HYDROVISION International, meaning you can select a topic that’s right for you and take a deeper dive or get hands-on experience. Our attendees told us they want hands-on training opportunities, so for the first time we’re taking attendees away from the convention center, to facilities where they can get a practical approach to learning. Our Hydro Hands-on Training (H2O) workshops will take place Monday, July 15. Denver Water will host a workshop on lockout/tagout procedures and troubleshooting the generator, associated equipment and controls at its 2 MW Hillcrest hydro plant. And the Western Area Power Administration will host a workshop at its Electric Power Training Center, where attendees will use the Miniature Power System simulator to get the grid back online by finding the location of an introduced fault. In addition, new this year are our Waterpower Hydro Basics 2.0 workshops. The popular Waterpower Hydro Basics course features 10 modules over 1.5 days that provides an introduction to all aspects of hydropower generation. The 2.0 workshops take a deeper dive into topics introduced at Waterpower Hydro Basics. These sessions are great for previous Waterpower Hydro Basics attendees, but anybody can take advantage of these learning opportunities on Tuesday, July 16. The two workshops are: Hydro Generator Stator Windings – Deep Dive, which reviews hydro generator anatomy and characteristics, including winding anatomy, winding losses, winding design considerations, winding insulation systems, manufacturing processes and much more. Thrust Bearing Basic Training, which will provide thrust bearing design concepts, criteria for thrust bearing serviceability and tolerance, and more. Attendees will see a demonstration of thrust bearing inspection equipment and techniques. HYDROVISION International 2024 takes place July 15 through 18 in Denver, Colo., U.S. Content for the event is now available online, and registration is open, so make plans to attend!
