Identifying the Root Cause of Safety Incidents
Manitoba Hydro uses a root cause analysis process to determine the cause of safety incidents at its generating facilities and develop corrective actions. The results of a staff investigation are used to diagnose the cause of the incident and improve safety practices.

A new system is being used to determine fish mortality issues related to hydroelectric facilities in the Pacific Northwest. Called the Juvenile Salmon Acoustic Telemetry System (JSATS), this tool allows researchers to better understand fish movement, behavior, and survival around dams and powerhouses.
