Duke Energy has signed on to be the host utility for HydroVision International 2018, which will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S., this June.

Duke Energy’s fleet of power plants has about 50,200 megawatts of generating capacity from a variety of fuel sources, including hydroelectric, solar, coal, natural gas and nuclear, serving about 7.4 million customers in the Carolinas, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Duke Energy operates 33 hydroelectric plants in the Carolinas and one in the Midwest.

HydroVision International is the world’s largest hydro industry event, and in 2018 more than 3,000 attendees and more than 320 exhibiting companies are anticipated from more than 50 countries. The event highlights perspectives on the role of hydropower, explores issues affecting hydro resources, and helps participants develop a vision to meet challenges and ensure the future sustainability of hydro.

HydroVision International’s conference program features 60 sessions over two full days. These include panel presentation sessions, technical paper presentations, and poster galleries.

The opening keynote session that kicks off the event takes place on Tuesday, June 26, and will feature Regis Repko, senior vice president and chief fossil/hydro officer for Duke Energy, as well as Arshad Mansoor, senior vice president, research and development with the Electric Power Research Institute (CEO).

HydroVision International is presented by Hydro Review magazine and takes place June 26 to 28 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The event is owned and produced by PennWell Corporation based in Tulsa, Okla.
