Michael Harris 6.26.2018 Share Hydropower has been hitting homers for the Pacific Northwest for decades, which is why the Foundation for Water and Energy Education and the Seattle Mariners are teaming up to celebrate Hydro Appreciation Day. The event takes place at the Mariners’ Safeco Field on Sunday, July 22, as Seattle hosts the Chicago White Sox at 1:10 p.m. “The Hydro Appreciation Day lineup features recreation, transportation, environmental stewardship, water supply, irrigation and the clean-up hitter, low-cost, reliable, renewable energy,” said Randall Stearnes, Community Relations Officer for Tacoma Power. While at the game, fans can stop by a hydropower information table on Safeco Field’s main concourse, where they can find information about dams, parks, camping, careers in hydro and more. An industry representative will also be included as part of a pre-game ceremony. Fans can win up to four tickets to the ballgame by submitting a hydro-themed haiku by July 2. To submit a haiku or more information about the event, visit FWEE’s website here.
