Good, chief administrative officer of Denver Water, will be speaking during the Thursday morning utility executive roundtable session at HYDROVISION International 2022. Denver Water was founded in 1918 and is the state’s largest and oldest water utility, with a service area of more than 335 square miles. A system of reservoirs networked by tunnels and canals provides water to 1.5 million people in Denver and surrounding suburbs. Money from the sale of the power produced by the company’s seven hydroelectric plants is used to offset operating costs, typically saving ratepayers about $4 million per year. Most of these generators are located at existing water storage facilities, such as Gross Reservoir in Boulder County. As previously announced, Denver Water is host utility for HYDROVISION International 2022, which will take place July 12-14 in Denver, Colo., U.S. Good leads a diverse team of people whose primary focus is to provide excellent internal service to the organization. Areas of focus include safety, security, emergency management, environmental compliance, sustainability, purchasing, contract control records and printing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and recreation at Denver Water facilities. As part of his oversight of sustainability initiatives, Good works with Denver Water’s hydroelectric and solar generation efforts. Renewable energy, including hydroelectric generation and solar photovoltaic systems, is in place at nine of Denver Water’s facilities, with 26.5 MW of capacity and average production of 60,000 MWh. One of the goals in Denver Water’s Sustainability Guide, published in 2016, is to reach Net Zero Energy at all of its facilities, offsetting 100% of electricity and natural gas use. This will be done through a combination of hydro and solar power generation. His previous roles at Denver Water include director of operations and maintenance, deputy manager of organizational improvement, water recycling plant supervisor, and assistant supervisor of the Marston Water Treatment Plant. Before joining Denver Water, Good managed source of supply, water treatment and distribution operations for the Champaign, IL Division of Illinois American Water Corporation. He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Colorado. This utility executive roundtable will feature several C-level executives from electricity generating companies, discussing current hot topics for the global hydropower industry.
