Los Alamos County invites applications for pre-qualification for a hydroelectric generator rewind project at the 8-MW El Vado hydro project on Rio Chama in New Mexico. Responses are due Dec. 2.

The Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities operates two hydroelectric projects, El Vado (No. 5226) and 16.8-MW Abiquiu (No. 7396) Abiquiu was expanded from 13.8 MW in 2011, becoming the first major hydro project to reach completion using federal stimulus money under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

In a multi-step request for proposals, Los Alamos County now invites applications for pre-qualification for a generator rewind project at the El Vado hydro plant. Tender documents may be obtained from the address below.

Sealed statements of qualifications in one clearly labeled unbound original and one electronic version on a USB flash drive or CD-R are to be submitted to the address below by 2 p.m., Mountain time, Dec. 2. A request for proposals is to be issued to pre-qualified firms on Dec. 15, with bids to be received by 2 p.m., Mountain time, Jan. 27, 2015.
