Technical Papers of the Year winners announced at HydroVision International 2019

Authors of eight technical papers were presented with Technical Papers of the Year awards at HydroVision International 2019 this week in Portland, Ore., U.S.

Authors of eight technical papers were presented with Technical Papers of the Year awards at HydroVision International 2019 this week in Portland, Ore., U.S.

These awards are given to the strongest technical papers presented over the two days of the conference. The winners were chosen by the HydroVision International 2019 technical papers committee. Committee members reviewed all technical papers presentations received in five categories.

Awards were announced for the first and second place winners in each of these categories and the winners were presented with certificates at the event.

The winners are:

Environmental and Social

First Place, Biological-Hydraulic Performance Characteristics Curves of Kaplan Turbines by Pedro Romero-Gomez, Monika Lang, and Simon Wissenberger, Andritz Hydro

Second Place, Box Canyon Dam Upstream Fish Passage Project by Vincent Autier, McMillen Jacobs Associates

Equipment and Technology

First Place, Success of Overcoming High Load Instability of Mica New Generating Units by Danny Burggraeve, Jacob Iosfin, Sabrina Lin and Ben Wang, BC Hydro; and Mario Hamel and Sylvain Marier, Andritz Hydro

Second Place, Waterhammer Simulations for KOPS II Pumped Storage HPP and Comparison with Measurements by Helmut Jaberg, Graz University of Technology

Project Management and Operations
